There is often a lot of confusion over whether to put a full stop, or the punctuation, inside the bracket or outside the bracket. This is not surprising considering you will have seen both.
The reason for this is because both are correct depending on the sentence. Let me explain…
The full stop appears inside the bracket if the sentence is complete.
The full stop appears outside the bracket if the sentence is incomplete.
Examples:
Lisa enjoyed reading the free series at home. (I preferred to read it at work.)
Lisa enjoyed reading the free series at home (where as I preferred to read it at work).
April bought the black skirt. (Sezza bought the brown one.)
April bought the black skirt (and Sezza bought the brown one).
